Hi! I’m Claudia Kindl, a street photographer currently based in Austria. I first came into contact with street photography while still living in Los Angeles, where I used to work as a celebrity photographer for some time. Learning by doing was my motto for survival in the City of Angels. The tough streets taught me the hard way and became my best teacher. I also have a background in acting, singing & screenwriting. Street photography brings these art forms together beautifully. For me, the streets are the greatest stage of life, a spectacular and vivid Shakespearean theatre with the most diverse, colorful and interesting characters, costumes and props you can ever imagine. And the best about it is the element of surprise. Anything can happen at any given moment and there will never be two moments alike. There’s no need for a script, because life on the streets writes the best stories. Unrehearsed, un-staged & unscripted without any rules or direction. Just like with a good play, I enjoy comedy and drama in street photography, always keeping my main focus on telling a good story. My background as a celebrity photographer has taught me to take a rather bold approach whenever needed, but also to capture a good candid street moment without getting noticed whenever possible. Street photography is my greatest passion and also my best teacher in life, teaching me to slow down and be fully present in the moment. Out on the streets, I’m in the flow. It’s where I feel most alive and completely immersed in the moment. Calm yet highly alert, almost like a meditative state. Street photography is my addiction. Out there I find myself on the hunt for the next shot, my adrenaline kick, as I eagerly press the shutter and all I hear is the familiar sound of “click, click, click," like listening to my own heartbeat. My heart literally beats for the streets - it's the best feeling in the world!
